Normal Histology | Histology Image Gallery | appendicitis

Image and picture gallery on the histopathology of appendicitis. The appendix contains normally the appearance of colonic mucosa. When inflammed, by a fecalith, appendicitis occurs, which means inflammation of the appendix. Appendicitis is a clinical diagnosis, but on histology we can see transmural inflammation with neutrophils, damage and often ulceration to the surface mucosa and rarely the presence of the fecalith or the other cause of the appendicitis which can be a parasite.
