Normal Histology | Histology Image Gallery | Heart

Heart muscle, also known as cardiac muscle, are striated and display the same banding pattern as skeletal muscle cells. The differences are that cardiac muscle cells are short and branch often, have only one or two nuclei that are found centrally in the cell. Cardiac cells are joined by intercalated discs and do not have satellite cells, but cardiac cells do have stem cells.
